Visit responsibly

Be good to the pigs.

The pigs of Koh Madsum are domestic pigs that live on the beach and depend on people. A few simple habits keep the visit good for them, and safer for you.

  • Don't bring snacks for the pigsCrisps, bread, sweets and other junk food are bad for them. If feeding is offered, use only what the guide or island staff give you, usually fruit and vegetables.
  • Never chase, corner, lift or ride themLet the pigs come to you, and always leave piglets with their mothers.
  • Let resting pigs restIf they are lying in the shade, especially around midday, leave them there. There will be other photo chances.
  • Keep hands flat and food out of pocketsPigs have excellent noses and adult pigs are heavy. They can push or nip when they crowd around food.
  • Supervise children closelyStay between small children and the larger pigs, and step away if the animals get pushy.
  • Take all rubbish back with youPlastic left on the beach ends up in the sea or in a pig. Stay within the public beach area too: part of the island is private.

FAQ

Before you book the Pig Island tour.

Is the Pig Island tour suitable for kids?

Yes, with supervision. Children under 5 join free and children aged 5–11 pay ฿1,900. Life jackets are provided for everyone, including child sizes, and the banana boat is for ages 5 and up. Adult pigs are large and can be pushy around food, so keep little ones close on the beach.

Is there a toilet on the boat?

Yes. Our VIP four-engine catamaran has a toilet on board. Facilities on Pig Island itself are basic.

I get seasick. Will I be OK?

A large catamaran is generally steadier than a small speedboat, but no boat is completely still. If you are prone to seasickness, take medication before departure, sit on the lower deck near the middle of the boat and keep your eyes on the horizon. Seas are usually roughest from mid-October to early December, and the Thai Meteorological Department publishes the marine forecast.

Do I pay a fee at Pig Island?

No. The Pig Island landing fee is included in your catamaran ticket.

Is there a minimum number of guests?

Yes. The catamaran departs with a minimum of 40 guests. If this is not reached, we let you know in advance and you can choose another date or a full refund.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If the sea is not safe, we contact you in advance and move your trip to another date free of charge. If the new date is also affected by bad weather, you receive a full refund.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancel at least 24 hours before your pickup time for a 100% refund. Cancellations made later than that, and no-shows, are non-refundable.

Can we feed the pigs?

Only with food provided by the guide or island staff, and only when they say it is appropriate. Please never bring your own snacks for them.

Where does the boat leave from?

Bang Kao Pier on the south coast of Koh Samui. Hotel pickup is included, between 9:00 and 9:40 AM depending on your area.
